Combined Mastopexy and Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation can be combined with a breast lift (mastopexy) in select patients.  This is commonly done after women have finished their child bearing.  The goal of the combined surgery is to tighten up the breast skin and then use an implant to increase the size and projection of the breast.  The combined procedure requires experience and good surgical judgement as there is a higher rate of nipple numbness when the procedures are combined and even an increased likelihood of the nipple areola partially or completely dying following the procedure.

Dr. Duffy has always felt that his breast reconstruction practice makes him a better cosmetic breast surgeon and vice versa.  Both aspects of breast surgery require a detailed knowledge of breast anatomy, a good appreciation of what the patient’s goals are, and a good deal of experience.
