Upper Extremity
Upper extremity wounds come about following trauma, tumor excisions, and urgent or elective orthopedic operations that require plates and screws that can become exposed. As in the case with lower extremity wounds, Dr. Duffy will often work in conjunction with orthopedic surgeons, vascular surgeons, and general surgeons as well as internal medicine colleagues to care for these patients. Many reconstructive challenges can be addresses with skin grafts, local tissue rearrangement, or local perforator flaps. Tumor resection such as sarcomas with concomitant radiation therapy is a common reason for our practice to get involved and we work closely with Dr. Casas and Dr. Jones from Dallas Sarcoma Associates to provide comprehensive care for their patients.
